MARITIME SERVICES ACT 1935 - REGULATION

(Relating to fees for licences, examinations and other matters)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Maritime Services Act 1935, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Maritime Services Board of New South Wales, in pursuance of

the Maritime Services Act 1935, makes the following Regulation:

Commencement

1. This Regulation takes effect on 30 June 1990.

Amendments

2. The Water Traffic Regulations - N.S.W. are amended:

(a) by omitting Regulation 14 (4) and by inserting instead the following clauses:

(4) An applicant for a licence must furnish such particulars as the Board requires and, in respect of each year for which the licence remains in force, must pay:

(a) for a general or commercial licence - a fee of $22; or

(b) for a general young adult licence - a fee of $11,

subject to any concessions available under this Regulation.

(4A) If a general or commercial licence specifies that it is to remain in force for a period of 3 years from the date of its commencement, the fee payable for that licence is $60.

(4B) If the Board is satisfied that the applicant for, or the

holder of, a licence is the holder of a current pensioner health
benefits card issued by

(a) the Department of Social Security of the

Commonwealth of Australia; or

(b) the Department of Veterans' Affairs of the

Commonwealth of Australia,

the fee payable for the licence is one-half of the fee otherwise

payable.

(b) by omitting from Regulation 14 (5) (d) the matter "$15" and by

inserting instead the matter "$16";

(c)	by omitting from Regulation 14 (5A) (d) the matter "$10" and by inserting instead the matter "$11";
(d)	by omitting from Regulation 14 (5D) the matter "$5" and by inserting instead the matter "$6";
(e)	by omitting from Regulation 14 (6) (e) the matter "$15" and by inserting instead the matter "$16";
(f)	by omitting from Regulation 14 (12) the matter ''$10'' and by inserting instead the matter ''$11".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Water Traffic Regulations - N.S.W.

so as:

1990 - NO. 422

(a)	to increase the fees payable in respect of the granting of licences to navigate at speed, examinations administered prior to the granting of certain of those licences and the issue of duplicate licences; and
(b)	to reduce the fees payable in respect of licences issued for a period of 3 years

and licences issued to holders of certain current pensioner health benefit

cards.
