Marine and Safety (Safe Operation) Amendment Regulations 2010

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Marine and Safety Authority Act 1997 .11 June 2010

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Marine and Safety (Safe Operation) Amendment Regulations 2010 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on 1 July 2010. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Marine and Safety (Safe Operation) Regulations 2003 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation) Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting after the definition of length the following definition: life jacket means an inflatable or buoyant jacket for keeping a person afloat in water; 5Regulation 29A amended (Life jackets) Regulation 29A(2) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows: (a) by inserting the following subparagraph after subparagraph (ii) in paragraph (b) : (iii) a personal flotation device that meets the requirements of AS 4758.1 – 2008 (for Level 150 or Level 100 personal flotation devices); or (b) by omitting from paragraph (c)(iii) "1996." and substituting "1996; or"; (c) by inserting the following subparagraph after subparagraph (iii) in paragraph (c) : (iv) a personal flotation device that meets the requirements of AS 4758.1 – 2008 (for Level 150, Level 100 or Level 50 personal flotation devices).
