THE MARGARINE [ ASSENTED TO 15TH OCTOBER, 1931.] ACT AMENDMENT B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, ACT OF 1931. . by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. This Act may be cited as "The Margarine Act Sho.rt title Amendment Act of 1931," and shall be read as one with : ~ ! tructio. n. *"The Margarine Act of 1910," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may collectively be cited as " The Margarine Acts, 1910 to 1931." Amendments of the Principal Act. . Also after the words "vegetable oils" the words "or vegetable fats" are inserted. 3, Paragraph (a) of subsection two of section sevenAfme~ dment of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the word 0. s. 13840 MARGARINE. ----------------------- Margarine Act Amendment Act. 22 GEO. V. No. 16,1931. Amendment 4. Section ten of the Principal Act is amended of s. 10. by inserting the following proviso after paragraph (b) as follows ;- "Provided always that it shall, for a period of twelve months from the passing of "The Margarine Act Amendment Act of 1931," be permissible for a manufacturer of margarine to use skim milk which contains not more than ·05 per cent. of butter fat as an emulsifying agent in the process of manufacture ;" also by inserting after paragraph (b) a new paragraph (bl) as follows ;- "(bJ) Notwithstanding anything contained in any law to the contrary, to sell or offer for sale or expose for sale any margarine with which is mixed butter, butter fat, or any constituent of milk except (for a period of twelve months from the passing of "The Margarine Act Amendment Act of 1931") such milk solids as may be introduced into the margarine by the employment of skim milk which contains not more than ·05 per cent. of butter fat as an emulsifying agent in the process of manu- facture;" Also paragraph (c) is amended by deleting the words "with the exception of sesame oil or extraneous butter fat or oil" and inserting the words "or vegetable fats" in lieu thereof. Also, a new paragraph (e) is added to the said section, namely;- "(e) To keep or have in possession more than five pounds of butter on any premises used in the making or manufacture of margarine." Amendment . 5. In the second paragraph of subsection three of of s. H. section eleven of the Principal Act, after the words "sesame oil" the words "or to contain any butter, butter fat or other constituent of milk except (for a period of twelve months from the passing of "The Margarine Act Amendment Act of 1931") such milk solids as may be introduced into the margarine by the employment of skim milk which contains not more than ·05 per centum of butter-fat as an emulsifying agent in the process of manufacture," are inserted.
