Making Queensland Safer (Adult Crime, Adult Time) Amendment Act 2025 (Qld)

The Parliament of Queensland enacts—

Part 1    Preliminary

1   Short title

This Act may be cited as the Making Queensland Safer (Adult Crime, Adult Time) Amendment Act 2025.

2   Commencement

Part 2, division 3 commences immediately after the commencement of the Making Queensland Safer Act 2024, section 54.

Part 2    Amendment of Youth Justice Act 1992

This part amends the Youth Justice Act 1992.

442   Application of new s 175A

Section 175A, as amended by the Making Queensland Safer (Adult Crime, Adult Time) Amendment Act 2025, applies in relation to an offence only if the offence was committed after the commencement.

7   Amendment of s 282A (Eligible persons register)

Section 282A—
insert—

(3A)A person registered under subsection (3) may nominate a person (a nominee) to receive the detainee information for the person.

Example—

a victim support worker from a victims’ support agency

8   Amendment of s 282E (Removing details from eligible persons register etc.)

Section 282E, ‘section 282BA(3)’—
