1Name of Rules

These Rules are the Major Sporting Events (Indicia and Images) Protection Amendment Rules 2014 (No. 1).

2Commencement

These Rules commence on 1 January 2015.

3Amendment of Major Sporting Events (Indicia and Images) Protection Rules 2014

Schedule 1 amends the Major Sporting Events (Indicia and Images) Protection Rules 2014.

Insert

4A Notice of objection to importation

For paragraph 23(3) of the Act, the following document must accompany

a notice of objection to importation:

1. (a)

   Form B1274, Major Sporting Events (Indicia and Images) Protection Act 2014 Security Under Section 25(3) – Deed of Undertaking.

Note: Form B1274 can be found at 6 Damages or accounts of profits

Repeal

For paragraph 48(6)(b) of the Act, section 62 of the Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2011 (Qld) is prescribed in relation to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Insert

For paragraph 48(6)(b) of the Act, the following provisions of a law of a State or Territory apply in relation to the following major sporting events:

(1) AFC Asian Cup 2015

(a) Major Events Act 2009 (NSW), section 63;

(b) Major Sporting Events Act 2009 (Vic), sections 48 and 49.

(2) Cricket World Cup 2015

(a) Major Events (Aerial Advertising) Act 2009 (WA), section 14;

(b) Major Events Act 2009 (NSW), section 63;

(c) Major Sporting Events Act 2009 (Vic), sections 48 and 49.

(3) Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

(a) Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2011 (Qld).

For Schedule 1, paragraph 4(1)(c) of the Act, the following expression is prescribed for the AFC Asian Cup 2015:

(4) For Schedule 1, paragraph 4(1)(c) of the Act, the following expressions or combination of one or more expressions are prescribed for the AFC Asian Cup 2015:

(a) Asian Football Confederation

(b) Nutmeg the Wombat

(c) any combination of a Table A expression with a Table B expression
