MAITLAND TO MORPETH RAILWAY (CESSATION

OF OPERATION) ACT.

Act No. 38, 1953.

An Act to discontinue the operation of the railway between Maitland and Morpeth; to make certain provisions consequential upon such discontinuance; to amend the Govern­ ment Railways Act, 1912-1952; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 16th December, 1953.]

BE it enacted by the Queen 's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­	lative Council and Legislat ive Assembly of New South
Wales in Par l i ament assembled, and by the au thor i ty of the same, as follows:—

1 .     (1) This Act m a y be cited as the " M a i t l a n d to

Morpe th Rai lway (Cessat ion of Opera t ion) Act, 1953 . "

(2) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced

on the thirty-first day of August , one thousand nine

hundred and fifty-three.

2 . The Commissioner for Rai lways shall cease to opera te the ra i lway between Mai t land and Morpeth, and any duties or obligations imposed upon The Commis­ sioner for Rai lways by the Government Rai lways Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts , the Publ ic Works Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts , or any o ther Act of Pa r l i amen t , or by agreement , contract , deed, or by operat ion of law in re la t ion to the said ra i lway or any of the lands or works connected therewi th or adjoining there to , or the ca r r i age of persons , animals and goods upon the said rai lway, a re hereby extinguished.

3 . Any land resumed or taken for the purposes of the said ra i lway may be dealt with as superfluous lands under the Public W o r k s Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts . L O R D
