MAIN ROADS (ENGINEERING CADETS) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS

1991

Made by His Excellency the Governor in Executive Council on the recommenda-
tion of the Commissioner of Main Roads.
Citation
1. These regulations may be cited as the Main Roads (Engineering Cadets)
Amendment Regulations 1991.
Principal regulations
2. In these regulations, the Main Roads (Engineering Cadets) Regulations

1982* are referred to as the principal regulations.

Regulation 2 amended

3. Regulation 2 of the principal regulations is amended by—

(a)	deleting the definition of "Institute"; and
(b)	deleting the definition of "University" and substituting the following

definition—

"University" means the University of Western Australia or the

Curtin University of 'Technology; ".

Regulation 4 amended

Curtin University of Technology ".

4.  Regulation 4 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting paragraph

(a).
Regulation 10 amended

5.  Regulation 10 of the principal regulations is amended by repealing subreg-

ulation (3) and substituting the following subregulation—

(3) Subject to subregulation (4) the salary paid to a cadet shall

commence—

(a) at a rate equivalent to item 5 of the scale; or

(b) in the case of a cadet who has completed and passed one or more

years of a University course before entering into a cadetship agreement at a rate equivalent to the item on the scale that the Commissioner considers appropriate having regard to the portion of a University course that the cadet has completed,

and shall increase to the rate equivalent to the next succeeding item on the scale at the completion of each year of the term of the cadetship if the Commissioner is satisfied with examination results obtained by the cadet in his University course during that year. ".

Schedule 1 amended
6. Schedule 1 to the principal regulations is amended in column 2 by deleting
"Western Australian Institute of Technology" in paragraph (b) of each class and
substituting in each case the following—

References to "Institute" deleted
7. The principal regulations are amended by deleting "or Institute" wherever

it occurs in the provisions specified in the Table to this regulation.
