MAIN ROADS (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 6, 1954.

An Act to amend section 7A of the Main Roads Act, 1924-1951, in certain respects; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 14th April, 1954.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Main Roads (Amendment) Act, 1954."

(2) The .Main Roads Act, 1924, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Main Roads Act, 1924-1954.

(3) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced upon the thirteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three.

2 . (1) The Main Roads Act, 1924-1951, is amended—

(a) by inserting in subsection two of section 7A after the word "officer" where secondly occurring the words "who has not attained the age of
sixty yea r s ' ' ;

(b) by omitting from the same subsection the words and figures "Superannuation Act, 1916-1935" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words and figures "Superannuation Act, 1916, as amended

(c) by inserting at the end of the same subsection the following new paragraph:—

Any pension to which any such Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner or officer who has attained the age of sixty years is entitled under the Superannuation Act, 1916, as amended by

subsequent Acts, shall commence from the date upon which his extended leave, if taken, would have commenced.

(d) by omitting subsection three of the same section. (2) Where any pension payable under the Super- annuation Act, 1916, as amended by subsequent Acts, to an officer, who, having attained the age of sixty years, retired from the service of the Commissioner before the date of commencement of this Act, had not commenced before such date, such pension shall be deemed to have been payable to such officer as from such date.
