m (j^ueenslanb ANNO NONO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGIME. No. 45. An Act to Amend "The Main Roads Acts, 1920 to 1959," in certain particulars. [A ssented to 16 th D ecember , I960.] B E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliamentassembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— Short title. 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as “ The Main Roads Acts Amendment Act of 1960.” Principal Act. _ (2.) “ The Main Roads Acts, 1920 to 1969,” are in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. Collective title. (3.) The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively cited as “ The Main Roads Acts, 1920 to 1960.”

The Schedule to the Principal Act is amended o •A fS m c e h n e d d m ul e e n , ts (а) Omitting clause two and inserting in its stead the following clause :— “ [ 2 .] The regulation of the weight of— (a) Vehicles on declared roads ; (b) Loads on such vehicles. The regulation of the weight of any vehicle on a declared road together with the load on such vehicle. The regulation of the weight on any axle or axles or tyre or tyres of any vehicle on a declared road. The prohibition or regulation of the use of vehicles likely to injure declared roads.” ; (б) Adding to clause thirty-three the following paragraphs :— “ Providing for the weighing of vehicles using any road, of loads on such vehicles and of the load on any part of any such vehicle; the weighing of any such vehicle together with the load thereon; requiring the driver or person in charge of any such vehicle, for the purpose of any such weighing, to comply with such requirements as may be prescribed or with such directions as may be given him by any member of the Police Force or by any person authorised in that behalf by the Commissioner; prescribing the method to be used to determine the weight of the load on any part of any such vehicle, or of any such vehicle together with the load on it where the vehicle and such load are not weighed as a whole. Providing for the measuring of loads on vehicles using any road and the determination of the weight of any load on such a vehicle according to a prescribed scale for various classes of goods.”; (c) Inserting after clause thirty-three the following clause :— “ [34.] Authorising the stopping of vehicles using, having used or about to use, declared roads and the inspection of such vehicles and loads on them; the production of books, documents and records relating to any such vehicle or the load on it and carried in or on such vehicle or by the driver or person in charge thereof.”; (d) Renumbering clause thirty-four as clause thirty- five ;

(e) Adding to clause thirty-nine the following paragraph:— “ Authorising the display of notioes for or with respect to any matter for or with respect to which regulations may be made under this Act; requiring persons to comply with the provisions of any such notice.’’; and (/) Adding to the marginal note to clause thirty-nine the words “ and notices
