Magistrates Court (Civil Jurisdiction) (Solicitors’ Costs) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, MICHAEL CARTER TATE, the Minister of State for Justice, acting for and on behalf of the Attorney-General, hereby make the following Regulation under the Magistrates Court (Civil Jurisdiction) Ordinance 1982.

Insertion

After regulation 5 of the Magistrates Court (Civil Jurisdiction) (Solicitors’ Costs) Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

Increase in costs

“6.  (1)  In these Regulations, a reference to—

(a)the costs ascertained in accordance with an item in a Schedule; or

(b)a scale of costs set out in a Schedule;

shall be read as a reference to those costs, or that scale of costs, as the case requires, increased by 1.8%.

“(2)  Subregulation (1) applies only in relation to work done, or services performed, wholly on or after the commencement of this regulation.”.
