MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY ACT 1989—BY-LAW

(Relating to the membership of the University Discipline Committee)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Macquarie University Act 1989, has been pleased to approve the By-law made by the Council of the Macquarie University and set forth hereunder.

The Council of the Macquarie University, in pursuance of the

Macquarie University Act 1989, makes the following By-law:

The Macquarie University By-laws are amended by omitting By-law

XV.  6 (1) and by inserting instead the following clause:

6. (1) There shall be a Discipline Committee which shall consist of the Chancellor or Deputy Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-President of the Academic Senate, four Heads of Schools selected biennially by the Academic Senate, and a student of the University

who shall be the Chairperson of the Macquarie University Students’

Council or the Chairperson’s nominee.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of this By-law is to amend the Macquarie University By-laws so as

to appoint a student of the University, being the Chairperson of the University Students’ Council or the Chairperson’s nominee, as a member of the Discipline Committee in place of the student member of the Macquarie University Council.
