(Relating to the election of Council members who are members of

Convocation)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Macquarie University Act 1989, has been pleased to approve the By-law made by the Council of the Macquarie University and set forth hereunder.

The Council of Macquarie University, in pursuance of the Macquarie

University Act 1989, makes the following By-law:

The Macquarie University By-laws are amended by omitting By-law

IV.4 (a) and by inserting instead the following paragraph:

(a)

the Registrar must publish a notice (being a notice that the election of the members is to be held) twice in a daily newspaper circulating generally within the State and (in addition) twice in a daily newspaper circulating nationally, and must publish such notice within the University;

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this By-law is to alter the requirements relating to the giving of notice of the election of members of Convocation to the Council of Macquarie University.

The current requirements are that the Registrar of the University is to publish twice in a daily newspaper circulating in Sydney and in the State a notice that the election is to be held and to post or deliver to each member of Convocation a copy of the notice.

The new requirements are that the Registrar is to publish the notice twice in a daily newspaper circulating generally within the State and, in addition, twice in a daily newspaper circulating nationally and must publish the notice within the University.
