(Relating to fines for a breach of discipline or misconduct in relation to the

University Library)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Macquarie University Act 1989, has been pleased to approve the By-law made by the Council of the Macquarie university and set forth hereunder.

The Council of the Macquarie University, in pursuance of the

Macquarie University Act 1989, makes the following By-law:

The Macquarie University By-laws are amended by omitting from By-law XV. 2 the words “not exceeding ten dollars on the student” and by inserting instead the words “on ’the student not exceeding an amount determined by the Council from time to time”.

The COMMON SEAL of MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY was hereto affixed on the 13th day of January in the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety five in pursuance of a Resolution of the Council by the:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this by-law is to allow the Council of Macquarie University to vary the amount of the fine that the University Librarian may impose on students for a breach of discipline, including non-compliance with the rules for the use of the library, or misconduct. Currently, the amount of the fine is set at $10.

This by-law is made under the Macquarie University Act 1989, including section 28

(By-laws).
