MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY ACT 1989 – BY-LAW

(Relating to academic costume)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Macquarie University Act 1989, has been pleased to approve the By-law set forth hereunder and made by the Council of the Macquarie University.

The Council of the Macquarie University hereby makes the

following By-law:

The Macquarie University By-law are amended by omitting Chapter XIV – Academic Dress and by inserting instead the following Chapter:

CHAPTER XIV – ACADEMIC COSTUME

1. The Council shall make rules relating to the form and use of

academic costume.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this By-law is to amend the Macquarie University By-laws to remove the provisions detailing the academic dress for persons associated with Macquarie University and to provide for those matters to be dealt with by rules made by the Council of the University.
