MITF 2010/2011 TAC D5 DETERMINATION

TOTAL ALLOWABLE CATCH DETERMINATION – 2010/2011 SEASON

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority makes the following determination under section 11 of the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery Management Plan 2006.

Citation

1.       This Determination may be cited as the MITF 2010/2011 TAC D5 Determination.

Commencement

2.       This Determination commences on the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

Application

3.       This Determination applies to a holder of a fishing concession in the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery and to a person acting on behalf of the holder of that fishing concession.

Interpretation

4.       A term used in this Determination that is defined for the purposes of the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery Management Plan 2006 has the same meaning in this Determination as it has in that Plan.

[Note: Terms defined in the Fisheries Management Act 1991 have the same meanings in this Determination.]

Determination of total allowable catch and catch limits

5.The total allowable catches in the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery for the season which commences on 15 April 2010 and which will end on 14 April 2011 are:

Target species: Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides)

Aurora Trough       140 tonnes

Macquarie Ridge   150 tonnes

Bycatch Species

200 tonnes for all bycatch species combined with a 50 tonnes limit on any one species.
