Lotteries Commission (Powerball Lotto)
Amendment Rules 2001
Made by the Lotteries Commission under section 28(1) of the Act.
1. Citation
These rules may be cited as the Lotteries Commission
(Powerball Lotto) Amendment Rules 2001.2. Commencement
These rules come into operation on 11 March 2001.
3. The rules amended
The amendments in these rules are to the Lotteries Commission
(Powerball Lotto) Rules 1996*.[* Published in Gazette 29 April 1996, pp. 1821-48. For amendments to 15 February 2001 see 1999 Index to
Legislation of Western Australia, Table 4, p. 175.]
4. Rule 3 amended
Rule 3 is amended in the definition of “powerball lotto draw” after “with rule 19” by inserting —
“ and supervised in accordance with rule 16 ”.
5. Rule 8 amended
Rule 8(3) is repealed and the following subrule is inserted instead —
“
(3) A subscriber who has filled out the game board marked
“1” on an entry coupon in accordance with rule 8(1)may enter up to 5 further systems entries using the
same coupon by selecting, in each further game board,
the same number of Barrel A selections as were
selected in the game board marked “1” and one
powerball selection.

6. Rule 9 amended
(1) Rule 9(1)(c) is amended by deleting “14 or 18” and inserting
instead —“ 14, 18 or 25 ”.

(2) Rule 9(2)(a) is amended by deleting “14 or 18” and inserting
instead —“ 14, 18 or 25 ”. 7. Rule 12 amended
Rule 12(1a) is repealed.
8. Rule 16 replaced
Rule 16 is repealed and the following rule is inserted instead —
“ 16. Powerball lotto to be supervised
Powerball lotto is to be supervised in accordance with the relevant regulations of the State or Territory in which the draw takes place.
”.
9. Rule 19 amended
Rule 19 is amended after “Commission” by inserting —
“ or the designated authority ”.9. Rule 31 amended
(1) Rule 31(1) is amended by deleting “be used to identify a
receipted ticket as being held by the subscriber to whom that
number has been issued;” and inserting instead —“ be printed on a receipted ticket, corresponding to a
name and address to which an unclaimed prize won bythat ticket can be sent;
”.
(2) Rule 31 is amended by repealing subrules (3) and (4) and
inserting the following subrules instead —“
(3)
A person who presents a winning receipted ticket that is endorsed with a PRS number, within 5 weeks of the relevant draw, will be paid in accordance with these
rules, unless —
(a)
the Commission has been notified that the particular ticket has been lost or stolen, in time to set up appropriate monitoring or cancellation processes; or
(b) the Commission requests verification of
ownership or identity at the time of
presentation, by means of a statutory
declaration, and that verification is not
provided.

(4) The prize entitlement of a winning receipted ticket
that —
(a) is endorsed with a PRS number; and (b)
is not claimed, or paid, within 5 weeks of the relevant draw,
will be paid in a manner determined by the
recorded, in the PRS.
(5)
Payment of a prize entitlement under subrule (3) or (4) discharges the liability of the Commission in relation to any particular winning receipted ticket that is endorsed with a PRS number, and registration by a subscriber
with the Player Registration Service does not entitle the
subscriber to claim a prize from the Commission that
has already been paid.

9. Schedule 1 amended
The table to Schedule 1 is repealed and the following table inserted instead —

11. Schedule 4 amended
Schedule 4 is amended as follows:
(a)
by deleting the item commencing “Systems entries per entry coupon” and inserting instead —

(b) in the item “Games per oral request” by deleting “14 or “ 14, 18 or 25 ”;
(c) after the item
