An Act to amend the Lotteries and Art Unions Act, 1901, with respect to

the conduct of games of chance by or under the authority of certain

clubs. [Assented to, 4th May, 1983.]

Lotteries and Art Unions {Amendment).

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—•

Short title.

1.     This Act may be cited as the "Lotteries and Art Unions (Amendment)

Act, 1983".

Amendment of Act No. 34,1901.

2. The Lotteries and Art Unions Act, 1901, is amended in the manner

set forth in Schedule 1.

(Sec. 2.)

AMENDMENTS TO THE LOTTERIES AND ART UNIONS ACT, 1901.

(1) Section 4B (7)—

After section 4B (6), insert:—

(7) This section extends to the conduct of a lottery or game of chance by, or under the authority of, a club registered under the Registered Clubs Act, 1976, or Part IIIA of the Gaming and Betting Act, 1912, in connection with a competition for the promotion of trade or of patronage of the club and its facilities.

(2) (a) Section 4c (2) ( a )—

Omit "Part X of the Liquor Act, 1912", insert instead "the

Registered Clubs Act, 1976".

(b) Section 4c (3) (d )—

After "that", insert ", except as specified in the permit referred to in paragraph (a) in respect of the game,".
