LOTTERIES AND ART UNIONS ACT 1901 - REGULATION
(Relating to the value of prizes in lotteries)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Lotteries and Art Unions Act 1901, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Lotteries and Games of Chance Regulations 1966 are amended:
| (a) | by omitting Regulation 8 (1) and by inserting instead the following clause: |
(1) For the purposes of section 4 (3) (a) of the Act, the
prescribed amount is $20,000.
(b) by omitting Regulation 8 (4).
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Lotteries and Games of Chance Regulations 1966 at present prescribe the various maximum total values of prizes that may be offered in lotteries conducted or authorised:
| • | by a charity registered (or exempt from registration) under the Charitable |
Collections Act 1934 ($15,000);

• by a political party or trade union ($15,000); and • by any other non-profit organisation ($5,000). The objects of this Regulation are:
• to abolish the differences in the total value of prizes that may be offered by any such organisations; and
• to increase to $20,000 the maximum total value of such prizes.
