An Ordinance to amend the

Local Government (Transition) Ordinance 1992

1.       Short Title

1.1     This Ordinance may be cited as the Local Government (Transition) (Amendment) Ordinance (No. 3) 1992.¹

[NOTE:  This Ordinance commences on gazettal: see Christmas Island Act 1958: section 9.]

2.       Amendment

2.1     The Local Government (Transition) Ordinance 1992² is amended as set out in this Ordinance.

3. Section 8 (Suspension of operation of provisions of the Local Government Act)

3.1     Subparagraphs 8 (b) (iii) and (iv):

Omit the subparagraphs.

3.2     After paragraph 8 (b), insert:

“; and (c) the operation of the following provisions of the Local Government Act is suspended until the end of 30 June 1993:

(i)   subsection 533 (2); and

(ii)   Division 4 of Part XXV.”.
