Act No. 204, 1985

An Act to amend the Local Government Act 1919 as a consequence of and

in connection with the Metropolitan Traffic (Amendment) Act 1985.

[Assented to, 10th December, 1985.]

Local Government (Traffic) Amendment 1985

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the "Local Government (Traffic)

Amendment Act 1985".

Commencement

2.     (1) Sections 1 and 2 shall commence on the date of assent to this Act.

(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on the

day on which the Metropolitan Traffic (Amendment) Act 1985 commences.

Amendment of Act No. 41, 1919

  1. The Local Government Act 1919 is amended in the manner set forth

in Schedule 1.

Repeal of Ordinance No. 34 under the Local Government Act 1919

  1. Ordinance No. 34 under the Local Government Act 1919 is repealed.

SCHEDULE 1

(Sec. 3)

AMENDMENTS TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1919

(1) Sections 10 (1), 240 (2) (a), 249 (1), (o), (p), 269 (3)—

Omit "Metropolitan Traffic" wherever occurring, insert instead

"General Traffic".

(2) Section 249 (v)—

Omit paragraph (ii) of the proviso, insert instead:

(ii)  where the speed contest is a speed contest for vehicles other than motor vehicles, permission shall not be given unless the provisions of section 13A of the General Traffic Act 1900 are complied with;

(3) Section 270—

Omit the section and the short heading to the section.
