Local Government (Special Elections) Amendment Act 1997

An Act to amend the Local Government (Special Elections) Act 1993

[Royal Assent 11 December 1997]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Local Government (Special Elections) Amendment Act 1997 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day after the day on which it receives the Royal Assent. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Local Government (Special Elections) Act 1993 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Part 2: Division 3 insertedAfter section 7A of the Principal Act, the following Division is inserted in Part 2: Division 31998 Elections 7BPostal voting in 1998 Any election for a council in 1998 under Part 15 of the Local Government Act 1993 is to be held by postal voting in accordance with that Act.
