Local Government (Review) Order 1999
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister, make the following order under section 12 of the Local Government Act 1993 .3 February 1999

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the Local Government (Review) Order 1999 . 2CommencementThis order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette. 3InterpretationThe Acts Interpretation Act 1931 applies to the interpretation of this order as if it were by-laws. 4Abolition of certain electoral districtsThe electoral districts of the municipal area of Launceston are abolished. 5Number of councillors for Sorell (1) The total number of persons to be elected as councillors in the municipal area of Sorell is as follows: (a) 11, following the election due in March 1999; (b) 9, following the election due in October 2000. (2) The total number of persons as referred to in subclause (1)(a) is to be achieved by reducing the number of persons to be elected as councillors in 1999 from 6 to 5. (3) The total number of persons as referred to in subclause (1)(b) is to be achieved by reducing the number of persons to be elected as councillors in 2000 from 6 to 4. 6Schedule 3 to the Local Government Act 1993 amendedSchedule 3 to Local Government Act 1993 is amended as follows: (a) by omitting the item relating to Launceston and substituting the following item: | Launceston CPR 3004 | Launceston City Council | 12 | ... | ... |

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the order) This order –
(a) abolishes the electoral districts of the municipal area of Launceston; and (b) determines the number of councillors to be elected in the municipal area of Sorell.
