An Act to amend the Local Government Act, 1919, with respect to the

making and levying of rates. [Assented to, 18th December, 1981.]

Local Government (Rating) Amendment.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Exc-ilent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the "Local Government (Rating) Amendment

Act, 1981".

Commencement.

2.      (1) This section and section 1 shall commence on the date of assent

to this Act.

(2) Except as provided in subsection (1), this Act shall commence on

1st January, 1982.

Amendment of Act No. 41, 1919.

3. The Local Government Act, 1919, is amended in the manner set

forth in Schedule 1.

Application of amendments.

4. The amendments made by this Act apply, where relevant, for the purpose of calculating the standard rate for a council for 1982 and for subsequent years.

AMENDMENTS TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1919.

(1) Section 131 (2)—

After "(3),", insert " (3A) ," .

(2) Section 131 (3)—

Omit ", but after 1st January, in,".

(3) Section 131 (3)—

Omit "1st January" where secondly occurring, insert instead "31st

December".

(4) Section 131 ( 3 A ) —

After "represents" where firstly occurring, insert "(as at 31st Decem- ber in the secondmentioned year)".
