LOCAL GOVERNMENT (PATRIOTIC

PURPOSES) ACT.

Act No. 5, 1941.

BE

An Act to authorise the Municipal Council of Sydney, the Sydney County Council and any municipal, shire or county council to make gifts of moneys to or to lend moneys to the Commonwealth of Australia for war purposes and to make gifts of moneys to certain patriotic funds; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected there-

with. [Assented to, 28th March, 1941.]
BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—

1 . This Act may be cited as the "Local Government

(Patriotic Purposes) Act, 1941."
2 . (1) The Municipal Council of Sydney, the Sydney County Council and any municipal, shire or county council, is hereby authorised to ma'ke available out of its funds such moneys as it thinks fit—

(a) by way of gift to the Commonwealth of Aus- tralia for war purposes, or to any patriotic fund within the meaning of the National Security (Patriotic Funds) Regulations made under the National Security Act, 1939-1940, of the Parlia- ment of the Commonwealth of Australia and in force for the time being;
(b) by way of loan to the Commonwealth of Australia for Avar purposes on such terms as it may decide.

(2) Subsection one of this section shall be deemed to have commenced on the first day of September one thousand nine hundred and thirty-nine.
