Local Government (Parking Advisory Committees) Amendment.
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short title.
This Act may be cited as the "Local Government (Parking Advisory Committees) Amendment Act, 1981".

Commencement.
2. (1) This section and section 1 shall commence on the date of assent
to this Act.
(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on such day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.
Principal Act.
The Local Government Act, 1919, is referred to in this Act as the
Principal Act.

The Principal Act is amended in the manner set forth in Schedule 1.
Savings and transitional provisions.
5. (1) An approval or recommendation given by a parking advisory committee under section 270H, 2 7 0 J or 2 7 0 J A of the Principal Act shall be deemed to be an approval or recommendation given by the Traffic Authority of New South Wales under that section, as amended by this Act.

Local Government {Parking Advisory Committees) Amendment. (2) Where, pursuant to section 2 7 0 J A (1) of the Principal Act, an application to which that subsection applies was referred to a parking advisory committee but the committee had not, before the commencement of this section, given a report and recommendation on the application, the application shall be referred to the Traffic Authority of New South Wales in accordance with that subsection, as amended by this Act.

AMENDMENTS TO THE PRINCIPAL ACT.
(1) (a) Section 270c, definition of "Parking advisory committee"—
Omit the definition.
(b) Section 270c, definition of "Traffic Authority"—
After the definition of "Parking station", insert:—•
"Traffic Authority" means the Traffic Authority of New South
Wales.
(2) Sections 270D, 2 7 0 E , 2 7 0 F , 2 7 0 G —
Omit the sections.
(3) Section 2 7 0 H (a) — Omit the paragraph, insert instead:—
(a) provide, with the approval in writing of the Traffic Authority— (i) metered zones in any public road or public reserve under the care, control and management of the council; and
(ii) metered spaces in any such metered zone,
and control and regulate any such metered zones and spaces;

After section 270JA ( l ) , insert:—
(1A) The Traffic Authority shall consider, and furnish a
report and recommendation to the council on, any application
referred to it by a council under subsection ( l ) .
