Local Government (Municipal Boundary Area Adjustment) Order 2018

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the Minister, make the following order under section 16 of the Local Government Act 1993 .18 December 2018

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the Local Government (Municipal Boundary Area Adjustment) Order 2018 . 2CommencementThis order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette. 3Adjustment of boundaries of municipal areasFor the purposes of section 16(5) of the Local Government Act 1993  – (a) the boundary of the George Town municipal area is adjusted by including all the land situated at 2377 and 2405 East Tamar Highway at Mount Direction in Tasmania, comprised in Volume 153083 Folio 2 of the Register kept under section 33 of the Land Titles Act 1980 , as part of that municipal area; and (b) the boundary of the Glenorchy municipal area is adjusted by including all the area of land shown as City of Glenorchy, and bounded by a heavy black line on CPR 9815 in the Central Plan Register, as part of that municipal area; and (c) the boundary of the Hobart municipal area is adjusted by including all the area of land shown as City of Hobart, and bounded by a heavy black line on CPR 9814 in the Central Plan Register, as part of that municipal area; and (d) the boundary of the Launceston municipal area is adjusted by including all the land situated at 760 Pipers Brook Road at Pipers Brook in Tasmania, comprised in Volume 33837 Folio 2 of the Register kept under section 33 of the Land Titles Act 1980 , as part of that municipal area. 4Consequential AmendmentsThe legislation specified in Schedule 1 is amended as specified in that Schedule. EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order) This order –

(a) specifies adjustments to the boundaries of the municipal areas of George Town, Glenorchy, Hobart and Launceston; and (b) amends the Local Government Act 1993 to reflect those adjustments.
