Regulations 1996
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

PART 1—PRELIMINARY
1. Objectives
The objectives of these Regulations are to amend—
(a) the Local Government Regulations 19901—
(i) to make changes to the total remuneration level at which a council officer becomes a "senior officer" for the purposes of the Local Government Act 1989; and
(ii) amendments to the Unclaimed Moneys
to make changes consequential to Act 1989; and

(iii) to make various minor amendments; and
(b) the Local Government (Elections)
Regulations 19952—(i) to enable duplicate voting materials in an election conducted entirely by post to be issued on the last day of voting; and
(ii) to alter the timeline in regulation 89(2)(e) from 18 days to 15 days; and
(iii) to make a minor amendment to Form 8 in the Schedule.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 243 of the Local Government Act 1989.

3. Revocation of regulations concerning unclaimed money
Regulations 76, 77 and 78 of the Local
Government Regulations 1990 are revoked.4. Revocation of provisions concerning auditing of financial statements
Regulation 86 and Schedule 4 of the Local
Government Regulations 1990 are revoked.
5. Updating of reference
In regulation 89 of the Local Government
Regulations 1990, for "municipality" substitute
"municipal district".6. Prescription of total remuneration level of senior officers
After regulation 101 of the Local Government
Regulations 1990 insert—
"PART 11—SENIOR OFFICERS
102. Total remuneration level of senior officers For the purposes of the definition of "senior officer" in section 3(1) of the Act, the
prescribed amount is $70 000.".
7. Amendments to improve the expression in Form 26
In Form 26 of Schedule 2 of the Local
Government Regulations 1990, for paragraph (b)
substitute—"(b) any child of that person under the age of 18
years who normally resides with that
person.".

8. Extension of time to issue duplicate voting material
In regulation 78(1) of the Local Government (Elections) Regulations 1995, for "If before" substitute "If on or before".
9. Exemptions from compulsory voting
In regulation 89(2)(e) of the Local Government
(Elections) Regulations 1995, for "18" substitute"15".
10. Form 8 Scrutineer-Appointment and Declaration
In Form 8 of the Schedule to the Local
Government (Elections) Regulations 1995, for
"Candidate's Signature" (where second occurring)substitute "Scrutineer's Signature".
