Local Government Legislation Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2012 Part 1 Preliminary [s 1] Part 1 Preliminary 1 Short title This regulation may be cited as the Local Government Legislation Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2012 . Part 2 Amendment of City of Brisbane (Operations) Regulation 2010 2 Regulation amended This part amends the CityofBrisbane(Operations)Regulation 2010 . 3 Insertion of new s 71A Chapter 5, part 2— insert ‘71A Broadcasting ordinary meetings ‘(1) This section applies to an ordinary meeting (other than a special meeting) unless the council has resolved that the meeting be closed to the public under section 71. ‘(2) From 1 July 2012, the council must— (a) broadcast the audio and video of the ordinary meeting live over the internet; and (b) record the audio and video of the ordinary meeting and, for four years after the day of the meeting, make a copy of the recording available for viewing by the public— (i) on the council’s website; or (ii) otherwise over the internet. Part 3 Amendment of Local Government (Operations) Regulation 2010 4 Regulation amended This part amends the LocalGovernment(Operations)Regulation 2010 . 5 Insertion of new s 59A Chapter 5, part 2, division 1— insert ‘59A Broadcasting and recording ordinary meetings of relevant local governments ‘(1) This section applies to an ordinary meeting of a relevant local government (other than a special meeting) unless the local government has resolved that the meeting be closed to the public under section 72. ‘(2) From 1 January 2013, a relevant local government must— (a) broadcast the audio and video of the ordinary meeting of the local government live over the internet; and 2012 SL No. 43 Page 3

Example streaming over the internet via any website or a mobile communication service ‘(3) In this section— ordinary meeting , of a relevant local government, means an ordinary meeting of the local government and includes a meeting mentioned in section 175(1) of the Act. relevant local government means one of the following local governments— Cairns Regional Council; Fraser Coast Regional Council; Gold Coast City Council; Ipswich City Council; Logan City Council; Mackay Regional Council; Moreton Bay Regional Council; Redland City Council; Rockhampton Regional Council; Sunshine Coast Regional Council; Toowoomba Regional Council; Townsville City Council. special meeting see section 55(3).’.
