I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Local Government Legislation Amendment Act 1995, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 23 June 1995 as the day on which that Act (other than item [5] of Schedule 1) commences.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to appoint 23 June 1995 as the commencement date of all of the provisions of the Local Government Legislation Amendment Act 1995 except item [5] of Schedule 1 to that Act.

The uncommenced provision is to the effect that, if a person is elected as mayor and is also a candidate for election as a councillor, the votes cast for the person as a councillor are not to be counted for that person but are to be distributed as prescribed by the regulations. The provision will be proclaimed to commence at the same time as the relevant regulation.
