Citation

1. These regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Electoral Signs—Moveable

Signs) Regulations 1995.

Commencement

2. These regulations come into operation on the day on which they are made.

Interpretation

3. In these regulations—

"Act" means the Local Government Act 1934;

"election period" in relation to an election means the period commencing on the issue of the

writ or writs for the election and expiring at the close of polls on polling day.

Electoral signs cannot be prohibited

4. Pursuant to section 370(4)(b) of the Act, signs that relate to a federal or State election,

when displayed during the relevant election period, are signs of a prescribed class.
