Local Government (Electoral) Further Amendment Regulations 2012

The Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's deputy with the advice of the Executive Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to make minor amendments to the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2005 in relation to the candidature of the Mayor of the Greater Geelong City Council.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 243 of the Local Government Act 1989.

3Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2005[1] are called the Principal Regulations.

4Notice of candidature

(1)In regulation 22(2)(a) of the Principal Regulations, before "he or she" insert "in the case of a candidate for the office of Councillor,".

(2)After regulation 22(2)(a) of the Principal Regulations insert

"(ab)in the case of a candidate for the office of Mayor of the Greater Geelong City Council, he or she is applying to be a candidate for the office of Mayor at the election and the year of the election; and".
