Local Government (Elections) Order 2004

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following order under section 268A(1A) of the Local Government Act 1993 .24 March 2004

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the Local Government (Elections) Order 2004 . 2CommencementThis order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette. 3InterpretationThe Acts Interpretation Act 1931 applies to the interpretation of this order as if it were by-laws. 4Closing dayThe closing day for elections in respect of all councils is 25 October 2005. 5Local Government (Elections) Order 1999 revokedThe Local Government (Elections) Order 1999 is revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order) This order –

(a) fixes 25 October 2005 as the closing day under Part 15 of the Local Government Act 1993 for all council elections; and (b) revokes a previous order.
