Local Government (Elections) Amendment

Regulations 2021

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.   Citation

These regulations are the Local Government (Elections)

Amendment Regulations 2021.

2.   Commencement

Regulations 1997.

These regulations come into operation as follows —

(a)	regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette;
(b)	the rest of the regulations — on 2 August 2021.

3. Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Local Government (Elections)

4.            Regulation 22B replaced

Delete regulation 22B and insert:

22B.	Course of induction - s. 4.48(1) and (2)
For the purposes of section 4.48(1) and (2), the course of induction is—

(a)

if the course is completed on or after course titled Local Government Candidate Induction that was available on the Department's official website during that period; or

(b) in any other case - the course titled Induction for prospective candidates that is available on the Department's official website.

5.            Regulation 24 amended

In regulation 24(a) delete "150 words (not counting the words" and insert:

800 characters and spaces (but not counting the characters and
spaces

6.            Schedule 1 Form 8 amended

In Schedule 1 Form 8:

(a) delete "have completed the course of induction5; and" and insert:

completed the course of induction on [date] (reference

number )5; and

(b) under the heading "Back of Form 8" delete "that is available

on the Department's official website." and insert:

(if completed on or after 31 May 2021 but before 2 August 202 1) or the course titled Induction for prospective candidates that is available on the Department's official website. The reference number is the number that is emailed to you on completion of the course.

(c) under the heading "Back of Form 8" delete "150 words" and insert:

7.            Schedule 1 Form 9 amended

In Schedule 1 Form 9:

(a)	delete "has completed the course of inductions;" and insert:
completed the course of induction on [date] (reference

number )5;

(b) under the heading "Back of Form 9" delete "that is available

on the Department's official website." and insert:

(if completed on or after 31 May 2021 but before 2 August 2021) or the

course titled Induction for prospective candidates that is available on the

Department's official website. The reference number is the number that is

emailed to the nominee on completion of the course.
