LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CITY OF

PARRAMATTA) ACT.

Act No. 16, 1938.

An Act to provide that the Municipality of Parramatta shall be a city for the purposes of the Local Government Act, 1919; to amend that Act in certain respects; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 27th October, 1938.]

the same, as follows :—

1 . This Act may be cited as the " Local Government

(City of P a r r a m a t t a ) Act, 1938 ."

2 . The Local Government Act, 1919, as amended by

subsequent Acts , is amended—

(a) by omit t ing from p a r a g r a p h (a) of subsection

two of section eleven the words " twenty thousand ' ' and inser t ing in lieu thereof the

words "fifteen t h o u s a n d " ;

(b) by inser t ing after subsection two of section

eleven the following new subsection:—

(2A) The Municipal i ty of P a r r a m a t t a shall

be a city and shall be deemed to have been pro­ claimed as a city pu r suan t to subsection two of this section immediately before the com­ mencement of the Local Government (City of

P a r r a m a t t a ) Act, 1938.
