LOCAL GOVERNMENT (AMENDMENT) ACT.
Act No. 15, 1943.
An Act to make further provision in relation to the preparation of rolls of citizens in the City of Sydney, and of rolls of electors in municipalities and shires; to make certain provisions in relation to the control and management by councils of abattoirs; for these purposes to amend the Local Govern ment Act, 1919, the Local Government (Electoral Provisions) Act, 1941, and certain other Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. | 2 . (1) The Local Government (Electora l Provis ions) Act, 1941, as amended by the Local Government (Amend ment ) Act, 1942, is amended— |
(a)
by omitting from subsection one of section five the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and f o r t y - t h r e e " and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and forty- f o u r " ;
(b)
by omitting from subsection one of section ten the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and f o r t y - t h r e e " and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and forty- f o u r " ;
(c)
by omitting from subsection one of section eleven the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and f o r t y - t h r e e " wherever occurr ing and by
inser t ing
inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " o n e
thousand nine hundred and f o r t y - f o u r " ;
(d) by omitting from subsection four of section eleven the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and f o r t y - t h r e e " and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the words " o n e thousand nine hundred and fo r ty - four" .
(2) I t shall not be necessary for the council of an a r ea to cause an original roll of electors or a supple m e n t a r y roll of electors to be p r e p a r e d in the year one thousand nine hundred and for ty- three.
3 . (1) The Local Government Act, 1919, as amended
by subsequent Acts , is amended—
(a) (i) by omit t ing p a r a g r a p h (b) of subsection two of section four hundred and sixty-one and by inser t ing in lieu thereof the follow
ing new p a r a g r a p h s : — (b)
to sell, either on its own behalf or on behalf of any other person , catt le and meat , including bacon, ham, sausages, saveloys, and other smallgoods manufac tured or pre p a r e d from a carcase or a n y
por t ion thereof;
(b1) to establish, mainta in , conduct and
control works for canning, cur ing
and smoking m e a t ; (b2) to purchase catt le and m e a t ;
(ii) by omit t ing f rom p a r a g r a p h (e) of the
same subsection all words af ter the words
" s e l l the s a m e " ; (b) (i) by omit t ing f rom subsection one of section
four hundred and sixty-four the words " o rin the aba t to i r established under the Act
four teenth Victor ia number t h i r t y - s i x " ; (ii) by inserting at the end of the same sub
section the following new subsect ion:—
(1A) W h e r e aba t to i r s have been estab lished by a council, or where any council has in conjunction with any other council
joint ly
jointly established abattoirs, ordinances may be made prohibiting or regulating the sale or exposure for sale within the area of any such council of sausages, saveloys or other smallgoods (to be used as the food of man) manufactured or prepared from any carcase or part of a ca'rcase of any animal (other than rabbits, poultry and game) which has not been slaughtered in the aforesaid abattoirs or in the abattoirs established under the Meat Industry Act, 1915.
The power conferred by this subsection shall not extend to authorise the making of ordinances prohibiting or regulating the sale or exposure for sale within the area of any such council, of tinned goods.
(c) by omitting sections 464A and 464B.
(2) The Greater Newcastle Act, 1937, as amended by subsequent Acts, is amended by omitting paragraphs (c) and (d) of section twenty-four.
