LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1993—REGULATION

(Relating to standards for places of shared accommodation and to law revision)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Local Government Act 1993, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencementt

1. This Regulation commences on 1 December 1995.

Amendments

2. The Local Government (Orders) Regulation 1993 is amended:

(a)	by omitting from clause 6 (1) the matter “l(a)” and by inserting instead the matter “la”;
(b)	by omitting from clause 1 (2) of Schedule 1 the words “of 5.5 square metres” and by inserting instead the words “in accordance with clause 83 of the Public Health Regulation 1991”;
(c)	by omitting from clause 3 (2) of Schedule 5 the word “time” and by inserting instead the word “times”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The objects of this Regulation are:

(a) to clarify the general relevance of the minimum sleeping area requirements (and any exemptions from those requirements) under the Public Health Regulation 1991 to standards for council orders as to the number of persons permitted to be accommodated in shared accommodation; and

(b) to make other amendments for the purposes of law revision.

This Regulation is made under the Local Government Act 1993, including sections 127 (Making of regulations for the purposes of this Division) and 748 (the general regulation making power).
