LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1993—REGULATION

(Relating to minimum amounts of rates)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Local Government Act 1993, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 23 June 1995.

Amendment
2. The Local Government (Rates and Charges) Regulation 1993 is amended by omitting clause 6A and by inserting instead the following clause:

Minimum amounts of rates

6A. For the purposes of section 548 (3) (a) of the Act, the amount

prescribed is $274.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Regulation increases from $268 to $274 the maximum amount of the minimum ordinary rate that a council may, without special Ministerial approval, make under section 548 of the Local Government Act 1993. It also removes a transitional provision that related to the obsolete general rate.

The Regulation is made under sections 548 (3) and 748 (the general regulation-

making power) of that Act.
