LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1993—REGULATION

(Relating to fire detection and alarm systems)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Local Government Act 1993, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 July 1994.

Amendment

2. The Local Government (Approvals) Regulation 1993 is amended by omitting from the definition of “Building Code of Australia” in clause 4 (1) the matter “ 1 July 1993” and by inserting instead the matter “3 May 1994”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to update the definition of “Building Code of Australia” in the Local Government (Approvals) Regulation 1993 to take account of amendments made to that Building Code on 2 May 1994 relating to requirements as to the installation of automatic fire detection and alarm systems in Class la buildings and dwellings.

This Regulation is made under the Local Government Act 1993. including section 748 (the general regulation making power).
