His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Local Government Act 1993.

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Local Government (General) Regulation I993 to provide that, for the years ending 30 June 1998 and 30 June 1999, certain councils will not be required to prepare a comprehensive state of the environment report. Any such council must instead prepare supplementary reports for those years that comply with specified requirements.
This Regulation contains transitional matters only.
This Regulation is made under clause 1 of Schedule 8 to the Local
Government Act 1993.

(Reports) Regulation 1998.

2     Amendment of Local Government (General) Regulation 1993

The Local Government (General) Regulation 1993 is amended a s set out in Schedule 1.

(Clause 2)

[1] Clause 7K

Omit the clause. Insert instead:

7K Transitional

(1) A council's state of the environment report for the years ending 30 June 1998 and 30 June 1999 must be a comprehensive state of the environment report, unless the council is specified in Schedule 4.
The state of the environment report for the years ending 30 June 1998 and 30 June 1999 for a council that is
specified in Schedule 4 need only be a supplementary state of the environment report, and is taken to comply with the requirements of clause 7G if it identifies any new environmental impacts since the council's last report prepared under section 428 (2) (c) of the Act.
Note.
Section 428 (2) (c) of the Act requires that all state of the environment reports must report on the environmental sectors referred to in that paragraph, with particular reference to management plans and special council projects relating to the environment, and the environmental impact of council activities.
