His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Local Government Act 1993.

Explanatory note

Section 428 (2) (r) of the Local Government Act 1993 provides that the regulations may provide for additional information to be included in a council’s annual report.

The object of this Regulation is to prescribe as additional required information:

(a)	details (including the purpose) of overseas visits undertaken by councillors and others representing the council, and
(b)	details of the remuneration package payable to each senior staff member employed by the council, and
(c)	details of the activities undertaken by the council to develop and promote services and programs that provide for the needs of children, and
(d)	a report on the council’s performance in relation to programs undertaken by the council to promote services and access to services for residents and other users of those services.

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Local Government (General) Amendment
(Annual Reports) Regulation 1996.

2     Amendment of Local Government (General) Regulation 1993

The Local Government (General) Regulation 1993 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Part 3A Annual reports

7A Additional information for inclusion in annual report

For the purposes of section 428 (2) (r) of the Act, an annual report of a council is to include the following information for any year that ends on or after 30 June 1996:

(a) details (including the purpose) of overseas visits undertaken during the year by councillors, council staff, or other persons, while representing the council (including visits sponsored by other organisations),

(b)	a statement of the total remuneration package of each senior staff member employed during the year, including a statement of:
• the total value of the salary component of the package, and • the total amount payable by the council by way of the employer’s contribution or salary sacrifice to any superannuation scheme to which the member may be a contributor, and • the total value of any non-cash benefits for which the member may elect under the package, and • the total amount payable by the council by way of fringe benefits tax for any such non-cash benefits,
(c)	details of the activities undertaken by the council during the year to develop and promote services and programs that provide for the needs of children,
(d)	a report on the council’s performance in relation to programs undertaken by the council during the year to promote services and access to services for residents and other users of those services.
