His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Local Government Act 1993.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to provide for the adoption, for the purposes of various regulations made under the Local Government Act 1993, of a revised version of the Building Code of Australia. It does this by amending the definition of that Code that is contained in the Local Government (Approvals) Regulation 1993. Certain other regulations (such as the Local Government (Orders) Regulation 1993) adopt that definition by reference.

This Regulation is made under the Local Government Act 1993, and, in particular, under section 748 (the general regulation-making power) and clause 8 of Schedule 6.

(Building Code of Australia) Regulation 1999.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 August 1999.

3 Amendment of Local Government (Approvals) Regulation 1993

The Local Government (Approvals) Regulation 1993 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Clause 4 Definitions

Omit “1 January 1999" from the definition of Building Code of Australia
in clause 4 (1).

Insert instead “1 July 1999".
