The Local Court Rule Committee has made the following rules of court under the

Local Court Act 2007.

Explanatory note

The object of these Rules is to exempt a public officer (as defined in the Local Court Act 2007) who serves a document issued in committal, summary or application proceedings from the requirement to sign a statement as to service of the document. (The exemption currently applies only to police officers who serve such documents.)

1      Name of Rules

These Rules are the Local Court Rules (Amendment No 3) 2011.

2      Commencement

These Rules commence on the day on which they are published on the
NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Local Court Rules 2009

Rule 5.12 Proof of service

Insert “or a public officer” after “police officer” in rule 5.12 (5).
