ltaltzIaxtr ANNO VICESIMO OCTAVO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGII\ AE No. 1 of 1979 An Act to provide with respect to the validity of the triennial elections of Local Authorities appointed to be held on Saturday 31 March 1979 [ASSENTED TO 29TH MARCH, 1979] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice. and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title . This Act may be cited as the Local Authorities Elections Act 1979. 2. Interpretation . Save where a contrary intention appears- Local Authority " means a Local Authority constituted or to be constituted under the Local Gorernment Act 1936-1978 and includes Brisbane City Council; voters' roll " means a voters' roll or, in respect of the election of Brisbane City Council, an electoral roll for an electoral ward compiled for the 'purposes of the 1979 triennial election pursuant to the Local Government Act 1936-1978 or the City of Brisbane Act1924-1977; " the 1979 triennial election " means the election appointed to be held on Saturday 31 March 1979 for the purpose of electing aldermen or members, or chairmen and members of Local Authorities throughout Queensland,

No challenge shall lie in respect of- (a) any voters' roll; (b) any nomination of a candidate as alderman, chairman or member of a Local Authority for election at the 1979 triennial election; (c) any vote cast at the 1979 triennial election; (d) the conduct of the 1979 triennial election, upon a ground following, that is to say:- (e) in relation to a voters' roll, .that it has been compiled up to 2 January 1979 instead of to 31 December 1978 as required by law; (f) in relation to a nomination of a candidate, that he became enrolled on a voters' roll on 2 January 1979; (g) in relation to a vote cast, that the voter became enrolled on a voters' roll on 2 January 1979; (h) in relation to the conduct of the election, any ground specified in any of the foregoing paragraphs (e), (f) and (g).
