11650 LOANS, GOVERNMENT.-LOCAL AUTHORITIES. Local Authorities Acts Amendment Act. 17 GEO. V. No. 24, Report to (6.) The Auditor-General shall cause a report to be Parliament. made to the Legislative Assembly in each year, giving full information in connection with the operations of such Sinking Fund during the last preceding financial year. Amendment 11. [ASSENTED TO 26TH NOVEMBER, 1926.] it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in' Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : - Short title 1. This Act may be cited as "The Local A'ltthori#es ~ ~ ~ structjon. Acts Amendment Act ot 1926 " and shall be read as one with" The Local Authorities Acts, 1902 to 1925,"t herein collectively referred to as the Principal Act. Special Sewerage and Cleansing Rates. 2. After section two hundred and forty-three of the Principal Act the following section is inserted :- " [243A. ] In any case where a Local Authority has constructed and is maintaining works for or relating to sewerage and drainage and a locality of the Area (which locality the Local Authority is hereby empowered to define and declare) is receiving benefit from such works by the discharge of sewage from the lands within that * 15 Geo. LOCAL AUTHORITIES. 1926. Local Authorities Acts Amendment Act. locality, and also where the same Local Authority under- takes or contracts fo.r the removal of house refuse from premises or the cleansing of earth-closets, privies, ashpits, or cesspits within its Area, or if the case be so within that part of its Area which is not benefited .by such sewerage and drainage works as aforesaid, the Local Authority may in its discretion either- (a) Make and levy a Special Rate, to be called" a Special Sewerage and. Cleansing.Rate," upon lands within its Area, whether occupied or not; or (b) Make and levy a Special Rate, to be called "a Special Sewerage Rate," upon the lands, whether occupied or not, in the locality defined as aforesaid which is benefited by such sewer- age and drainage works, and make and levy a Cleansing Rate under section two hundred and forty-one of this Act or make an order for the payment of cleansing charges under section two hundred and forty-two of this Act in respect o£ lands situated outside such benefited locality. All moneys raised by. the Local Authority in the exercise of its powers under paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) of this section shall be paid into a Special Fund of the Local Authority and out of such Fund shall be defrayed the costs and expenses of operating and maintaining ~ he sewerage and drainage works aforesaid and all receiving stations and treatment works and nightsoil and garbage removal services." 11651 MARKETING (PRIMARY PRODUCE).
