LOAN APPROPRIATION (UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF).

 

No. 2 of 1935.

An Act to amend the Loan Appropriation (Unemployment Relief) Act 1934.

[Assented to 4th April, 1935.]

BE it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Short title and citation.

1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Loan Appropriation (Unemployment Relief) Act 1935.

 

(2.) The Loan Appropriation (Unemployment Relief) Act 1934 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Loan Appropriation (Unemployment Relief) Act 1934–1935.

Appropriation.

2. Section two of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words “One million five hundred and thirty-three thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds” and inserting in their stead the words “Two million and sixty-four thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds”.

Assistance for metalliferous mining industry in the Northern Territory.

3.Section seven of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words “Fifty thousand pounds” and inserting in theirstead the words “Forty-five thousand pounds”.

4. After section seven of the Principal Act the following sections and Schedule are added:—

Assistance for metalliferous mining industry in Papua.

“8. Out of the amount appropriated by this Act, the sum of Five thousand pounds may be expended, in such manner and subject to such conditions as the Treasurer approves, in the assistance and development of the metalliferous mining industry in Papua.

Grants to the States for the purposes of forestry.

“9.—(1.) Subject to this Act, there may be granted to each State, by way of financial assistance, an amount not exceeding that specified in this section opposite to the name of that State, namely:—

(2.) Any amount granted to a State under this section shall be paid upon the condition that it is used by the State, in such manner and subject to such conditions as the Treasurer approves, for the purposes of forestry.

Grant for forestry in the Territory for the Seat of Government.

“10. Out of the amount appropriated by this Act, there may be expended, for the purposes of forestry in the Territory for the Seat of Government, the sum of Nine thousand pounds.

Expenditure for purposes specified in Schedule.

“11. Out of the amount appropriated by this Act, there may be expended by the Commonwealth, for the purposes set forth in the Schedule to this Act, the amounts respectively specified in that Schedule in respect of those purposes.
