Livestock Management Regulations 2011

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe livestock management standards and inspection and certification arrangements.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 63 of the Livestock Management Act 2010.

3Definitions

In these Regulations—

Land Transport Standard means the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines—Land Transport of Livestock, published on 21 September 2012;

Pig Welfare Standard means the Victorian Standards and Guidelines for the Welfare of Pigs, Revision One 2012, published on 14 March 2012.

4Inspection and certification arrangement

For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of inspection and certification arrangement in section 3 of the Act, the following classes of arrangements are prescribed—

(a)an arrangement that is required or administered by, or by agreement with, the State of Victoria, or the Commonwealth or another State or Territory in relation to compliance with any particular legislation; and

(b)an arrangement that is audited independently of the controlling authority.

5Livestock management standards

For the purposes of sections 6 and 46 of the Act the following livestock management standards are prescribed—

(a)the Land Transport Standard; and

(b)the Pig Welfare Standard.

1.     General Information

The Livestock Management Regulations 2011, S.R. No. 158/2011 were made on 21 December 2011 by the Governor in Council under section 63 of the Livestock Management Act 2010, No. 15/2010 and came into operation on 21 December 2011.

The Livestock Management Regulations 2011 will sunset 10 years after the day of making on 21 December 2021 (see section 5 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994).

2.     Table of Amendments

This Version incorporates amendments made to the Livestock Management Regulations 2011 by statutory rules, subordinate instruments and Acts.
