Livestock Disease Control (Cattle Tags) Regulations

1997

The Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's Deputy with the
advice of the Executive Council makes the following
Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to make further provision for identification requirements for cattle.

2. Authorising provisions

These Regulations are made under sections 9, 9A,
10(2) and 139 of the Livestock Disease Control

Act 1994.

3. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations the Livestock Disease
Control Regulations 19951 are called the Principal
Regulations.

4. Tags

After regulation 8(4) of the Principal Regulations
insert—

"(5) The following cattle are not required to

be identified in accordance with sub-
regulation (1) if they are part of a sale lot of
cattle being sold in a saleyard with a
properly completed declaration made under
section 18A of the Stock (Seller Liability
and Declarations) Act 1993 and the vendor

number painted on them—

(a)

containing 3 or more cattle but less than

one head of cattle in a sale lot cattle are identified in accordance with sub-regulation (1) or (3);

(b)

no more than 2 head of cattle in a sale lot of 10 cattle or more but less than 19 cattle, if the remainder of those cattle are identified in accordance with sub- regulation (1) or (3);

(c)

no more than 3 head of cattle in a sale lot of 20 cattle or more, if the remainder of those cattle are identified in accordance with sub-regulation (1) or (3).

(6) Sub-regulation (5) does not apply to cattle

being sold as store cattle or breeding cattle.".

5. Identification of livestock introduced into Victoria

In regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations, sub- regulations (2) and (3) are revoked.

6. Tags for cattle

In Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations—

(a)

in Part A, in item (2)(a)(C), omit "or black";

(b) Parts F and G are revoked.
