REGULATIONS UNDER THE LIVE-STOCK SLAUGHTER LEVY ACT 1964*

WHEREAS the Australian Meat and Live-stock Corporation established by the Australian Meat and Live-stock Corporation Act 1977 has made recommendations to the Minister of State for Primary Industry with respect to the respective amounts to be prescribed for the purposes of paragraphs 6 (1) (c), 6a (1) (c), 6b (1) (c) and 6d (1) (a), (b) and (c) of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Act 1964:

AND WHEREAS before making the recommendations in relation to amounts to be prescribed for the purposes of paragraph 6d (1) (a) of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Act 1964 the Australian Meat and Live-stock Corporation consulted the Live-stock Producers Consultative Group and the Meat and Live-stock Exporters and Abattoir Operators Consultative Group established by the Australian Meat and Livestock Corporation Act 1977:

AND WHEREAS no other organization has been prescribed for the purposes of sub-section 8 (3) of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Act 1964:

AND WHEREAS before making the recommendations in relation to amounts to be prescribed for the purposes of paragraphs 6 (1) (c), 6a (1) (c), 6b (1) (c) and 6d (l) (b) and (c) of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Act 1964 the Australian Meat and Live-stock Corporation consulted the Live-stock Producers Consultative Group and the Meat and Live-stock Exporters and Abattoir Operators Consultative Group, and the Australian Meat Research Committee constituted under the Meat Research Act 1960:

AND WHEREAS no other organization has been prescribed for the purposes of sub-section 8 (4) of the Livestock Slaughter Levy Act 1964:

NOW THEREFORE I, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and after taking into consideration those recommendations made to the Minister by the Australian Meat and Live-stock Corporation, hereby make the following Regulations under the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Act 1964.

AMENDMENTS OF THE LIVE-STOCK SLAUGHTER LEVY REGULATIONS*

Amount per head of cattle slaughtered

1. Regulation 4 of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulations:

“ (3) For the purpose of paragraph 6 (1) (c) of the Act, the amount per head of cattle slaughtered is 1 cent.

“ (4) For the purpose of paragraph 6 (1) (d) of the Act, the amount per head of cattle slaughtered is $1.”.

Amount per head of sheep slaughtered

2. Regulation 5 of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:

“ (3) For the purpose of paragraph 6a (1) (c) of the Act, the amount per head of sheep slaughtered is 0.1 cent.”.

Amount per head of lambs slaughtered

3. Regulation 6 of the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting in sub-regulation (1) “ of the Act ” after “ paragraph 6b (1) (a) ”; and

(b) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:

“ (3) For the purpose of paragraph 6b (1) (c) of the Act, the amount per head of lambs slaughtered is 0.1 cent.”.

4. The Live-stock Slaughter Levy Regulations are amended by adding at the end thereof the following regulation:

Amount per head of goats slaughtered

“ 7. (1) For the purpose of paragraph 6d (1) (a) of the Act, the amount per head of goats slaughtered is 3 cents.

“ (2) For the purpose of paragraph 5d (1) (b) of the Act, the amount per head of goats slaughtered is 1.75 cents.

“ (3) For the purpose of paragraph 6d (1) (c) of the Act, the amount per head of goats slaughtered is 0.1 cent.”.
