Lithgow Sewerage Act 1909 (NSW)

Act No. 19, 1909.

An Act to sanction the construct ion of a system
of sewerage for the Municipality of Li thgow ;

WH E R E A S , in accordance with the provisions of the Pub l ic W o r k s Act , 1900, the Legislative; Assembly did, by resolut ion,

declare t h a t it was expedient to carry ou t a cer ta in work , namely ,

the const ruct ion of a system of Sewerage for the Munic ipa l i ty of L i t hgow : A n d whereas , on t h e passing of the said resolut ion, a s t a tu to ry du ty was by the said Act imposed on the Secretary for Pub l ic "Works to in t roduce a Bil l into t he said Assembly to sanction t he car ry ing out of the said work : Be i t therefore enacted by the K i n g ' s Most Exce l l en t Majesty , by and with the advice and consent of

Wales in P a r l i a m e n t assembled, and	by the- au tho r i t y of	the same, as
follows :—

1. This A c t may be cited as t he " L i t hgow Sewerage Act , 1909 ."

2. The car ry ing out of t he works , more pa r t i cu la r ly described in the Schedule to this Act , is hereby sanct ioned, and the Secre tary for Pub l i c W o r k s , or t he m e m b e r of the Execu t ive Counci l for t h e t ime being performing the dut ies of t he said Secretary, is he reby author ised to u n d e r t a k e and carry out t he said work, subject to the provisions of this Act , and for t ha t purpose shall be and shall have t h e powers and dut ies of a Cons t ruc t ing Au tho r i t y w i th in t he mean ing of

t h e P u b l i c W o r k s Act , 1900.

3. The p lan of t h e said works is t he p lan m a r k e d " L i t h g o w

Sewerage W o r k s , " s igned by the Secretary for Pub l i c W o r k s and

counters igned by t h e Chief Eng inee r for I r r iga t ion and Dra inage , and

deposited in t he publ ic oftice of the said Secre tary .

4. The cost of ca r ry ing out t he said works, es t imated a t

twen ty - s ix t housand live h u n d r e d pounds (which includes t he cost of

pipe sewers, vent i la t ion , p u m p i n g stat ion, p u m p i n g machinery ,

t r e a t m e n t works , and cont ingencies , b u t excludes t h e cost of land r e sumpt ion ) , may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as are now, or m a y hereaf ter be, appl icable to t h a t purpose , and shal l no t unde r any

c i rcumstances exceed the es t imated cost by more t h a n t en per c en tum.

S C H E D U L E .

T H E construction of fourteen miles thir ty-four chains, more or less, of main and

re t icula t ing sewers, varying in size from six to eighteen inches in diameter , together wi th manholes, junct ions, gullies, vent i la t ing shafts and pipes, penstocks, in tercept ing and Hushing chambers, and all works incidental there to and necessary for the proper

completion thereof. The construct ion of pumping stat ion, rising main, and works for the

bacteriological t r e a tmen t of sewage, near Farmer 's Creek.

The works above described are subject to such deviations and mollifications, omissions, or extensions, as may hereafter be deemed necessary.
