An Act to suspend the issue of Publicans Licenses within the County of Cumberland for the term of Twelve Calendar Months. [12th July, 1880.]

WH E R E A S licenses for Publ ic-houses wi th in t h e area hereinaf ter t e rmed

i t is expedient to p reven t t h e issue of a n y new

the " Met ropol i t an Dis t r i c t " for a period of twelve calendar m o n t h s
f rom t h e date of t h e pass ing of th i s Act Be i t therefore enacted by
the Queen ' s Most Exce l l en t Majesty b y a n d wi th t he advice a n d
consent of t h e Legis la t ive Counci l and Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w
South Wales in Pa r l i amen t assembled a n d b y t h e au tho r i t y of t h e

same as follows :—

1. For t he t e rm of twelve calendar m o n t h s after the passing of
this A c t no certificate au thor iz ing t h e g r a n t i n g of a publ ican 's license

unde r t h e " S a l e of L iquors Licens ing Ac t of 1 8 6 2 " shall be issued to any person for or in respect to any publ ic-house or premises to be used as a publ ic-house s i tuate wi th in t he area defined by t h e boun­ daries of t h e County of Cumber l and which area is in th i s A c t t e rmed

2. Ne i the r packe t licenses unde r section six nor t he au thor i ty

described in section seven of t he said cited A c t shall be deemed to be

wi th in t h e prohibi t ion of th is Act .
3. I n th is A c t which m a y be cited as t he " L iquor Licenses
Suspensory A c t 1 8 8 0 " t h e expression " p u b l i c - h o u s e " includes hotel

i nn ale-house tavern v ic tua l l ing-house as well as any premises where t h e business of re ta i l ing l iquor as defined by the said cited A c t is proposed to be exercised B u t no th ing in th is Ac t shal l affect t h e power to g ran t a n y license unde r any A c t other t h a n the " Sale of L iquors Licensing A c t of 1862."
